The collection
Twelve pieces we make again and again. Everything here is cut from solid timber in Manchester, and every one of them can be built in oak, ash or walnut, with the seat height changed by a centimetre or two if your table needs it.
Prices are the starting price for the timber named on the card and include VAT and delivery to mainland England, Scotland and Wales. Upholstered seats are priced with our standard wool; anything from your own fabric book is quoted when you send the reference.
Stock chairs leave in two to three weeks. Anything cut to order takes six to ten, and we will tell you the honest date rather than the hopeful one before you pay a deposit.

Timbers and finishes
The price on each card is for the timber written under the name. Changing it changes the price, roughly as follows, worked out on a side chair.
English oak
Cut in Shropshire, air dried then kilned to 9 per cent. Light straw colour that goes honey in a year or two.

From Cumbria. Paler and springier than oak, which is why the stacking chair is made in it.

American walnut
Kiln dried boards from Ohio, chosen for colour rather than figure. Sapwood is cut out, not bleached in.

Our standard finish. Three coats, cut back between each. Can be patched at home without stripping the chair.

For restaurant work where the floor gets mopped every night. Harder wearing, less easy to repair.

Iron and vinegar on the raw timber, then oil. Black with the grain still showing, no two chairs identical.
