We supply restaurants, hotels, bars and the designers who specify for them. The frames are the ones on the collection page with a heavier build, and the prices below are ex VAT off the retail list.

How a contract chair differs

Same lines, more meat in the places that fail first when a chair is dragged out twelve times a day.

Frame test
BS EN 16139 level 2, seat load 110 kg, with the backrest cycle run twice as long as the domestic frame.
Seat rail
Bolted as well as jointed, so a rail can be pulled and replaced on site without breaking the frame.
Stretchers
Heavier section, fitted to every leg rather than three, and wedged from underneath.
Upholstery
CMHR foam and fabrics rated to BS 7176 medium hazard. We work from your fabric book or ours.
Finish
Matt lacquer as standard on contract runs, because floors get mopped and oil does not like bleach.
Glides
Felt for timber floors, nylon for tile, fitted before delivery and replaceable from stock.
Lead time
Six to nine weeks for a run of forty, longer in walnut. Twelve chairs from stock timber, three to four weeks.

Opening an account

01Tell us the room

Covers, floor finish, whether chairs stack, and the date the room opens. A seating plan helps but a sketch on the back of a menu does too.

02Samples and a chair

We post fabric or leather samples, then send a sample chair on sale or return so the front of house can drag it about for a fortnight.

03Written quotation

Ex VAT, itemised by model and finish, with the delivery date and the payment stages on it. Valid for 60 days.

04Making and delivery

Half on order, half before despatch until terms are agreed. We deliver inside the M60 ourselves and use a two person carrier elsewhere.

Replacements, four years on

We keep the pattern, the cutting list and the fabric reference for every contract order, so a chair broken in year four is made from the same drawing in the same timber and sits in the room without looking new. Repairs to our own frames are quoted at cost of labour if the guarantee does not cover it.
